Sunset Verify

we grade our own homework.

Every evening, Vesper publicly scores its own sunset prediction. The only weather app with the transparency to do that.

How it works

three steps, every evening.

01

Predict

Each afternoon Vesper scores the coming sunset 0–100 using atmospheric data from SunsetWx.

02

Capture

After sunset, rate the sky with a tap or snap a photo. Your photo stays on your device.

03

Grade

Vesper compares its prediction to your rating and publishes the match. No hiding, no spin.

Your sunset journal

every sky you’ve verified.

Every prediction, every rating, every photo — collected in a scrollable timeline. Watch your accuracy track record build over weeks and months.

Photos never leave your device. The journal is yours alone.

Mar 28 · San Francisco

Predicted 81 · Rated 9/10 · 91% match

Mar 27 · San Francisco

Predicted 43 · Rated 5/10 · 88% match

Mar 26 · San Francisco

Predicted 92 · Rated 10/10 · 98% match

Live Activity

the countdown is on your lock screen.

As golden hour approaches, a Live Activity appears on your lock screen and Dynamic Island. The sunset score, the time remaining, and a gentle nudge to look up.

Transparency

why nobody else does this.

Risk

Publishing your accuracy means admitting when you’re wrong. Most apps would rather not.

Effort

Verification requires user interaction, atmospheric modeling, and a scoring system. It’s hard to build.

Philosophy

Most weather apps are ad platforms. Vesper is an editorial product. The incentives are different.
